DescriptionContains three parameters: ocean near-surface wind speed, columnar water vapor, and columnar liquid water. Product is produced by Frank Wentz at Remote Sensing Systems using data obtained from the Nimbus-7 Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (SMMR). Observations within 100 km of land are excluded; ice flags are also utilized. Data is obtained from all 10 individual SMMR channels, which closely correspond to the SMM/I channels and utilizing the same processing algorithms that were used to produce similar products derived from SSM/I observations (see PO.DAAC products 33 and 34).
