Abstract:

The MODIS Terra Global Level 3 Mapped mid-IR SST product consists of sea surface temperature (SST) data that are derived from the NASA MODIS sensor on board the Terra satellite. For this particular product the SST is derived from the 3.8-4.1 um mid-IR infrared (IR) bands (MODIS channels 20, 22, and 23).

The data have been mapped to a cylindrical equidistant map projection with 4.63 or 9.26 km spatial bins. The temporal resolution is daily, weekly (8 day), monthly, or annual. The file format for all data is HDF version 4.
