Abstract: The Monthly Mean Global Surface Ocean Variables data set consists of monthly mean averages of global sea surface temperature, sea surface height, significant wave height, chlorophyll-a concentration, surface wind speed, surface wind velocity and near-surface current. Please note that the years over which the monthly averages were calculated and the distance between measurements differ for each data set. This information is provided in the following table.

Data are provided in Raw Binary Format and are available via anonymous FTP to podaac.jpl.nasa.gov in the pub/data_collections/monthly_mean_atlas directory. These data may also be ordered on CD-R by contacting the PO.DAAC User Services Office.

The data provided in this product were produced by Halpern et al. in a series of annual atlases referenced below. Color images of the monthly averaged data in this product were published in these hard-copy atlases. Monthly sampling distributions as well as the annual mean and sampling distribution for each data set are also illustrated in the atlases.

Data Set Volume: The entire product is approximately 442 MB compressed.
